Charles Gounod (June 17, 1818 - October 18, 1893) was a French composer, known for his Ave Maria (based on a work by Bach) as well as his operas Faust and Roméo et Juliette. He is also famous for his lesser known works for Orchestra and Narration, such as the famous setting of the text "What shall we put in the Pumpkin Stew?".
